August 30 our Dinner Series Continues

August Dinner Series:  Saturday, August 30
Family Summertime Barbecue!

This month for our Dinner Series Event, Chef Dave is offering a Saturday afternoon barbecue to delight the entire family.  In the spirit of such an event, we'll have a few yard games to play, too!
The menu will include homemade sausages and stuffed hamburgers for adults and youth 12 and over, and hotdogs and simple hamburgers for children under 12.  We'll also have salads and sides with Hawaiian shaved ice for dessert.  Beer will be provided by a local partner brewery.

This Dinner Event will start earlier than our usual dinners, at around 3:00.  This will allow for some time to enjoy Chef Dave's excellent food as well as croquet, volleyball, or bocce.

Further details to come.  If interested, please let us know either by calling us at

Salsa Dancing, Bees, and Pizza!

It's Salsa Night!  Come on out and dance
from 6:00 - 8:00 with Paco.

He'll teach you fun, energetic dance moves (& some cool, groovy ones, too, given the weather).  It's always a great experience.  No experience necessary.  Bring a friend or come on your own and have a great time!

  Bzzzzz.....!!

Speaking of energy, our bees are REALLY a-buzzing, busy making lots of honey!
BUT - at this time of year, the nectar available out in the area is really hard to find, or gone.  Therefore, our gardener Colleen warns that the bees are likely a bit cranky, so bee sure to keep your distance.  Our hives are located back by our chicken run, behind the glasshouses.  Bee careful!

Finally - it's Pizza Day today!

A half & half, pepperoni & sausage/ artichoke & spinach pizza - yum!

Every Friday we serve wood-fired pizza for lunch; pizza only.  It is delicious!!  Everything is homemade (crust, sauce, and the cheese is locally created at Full Circle Creamery) and the veggies are fresh from our gardens!  Pizzas are about 10" in diameter - enough for two, or one, depending upon how hungry you are!

Pizzas available this week:
Special Pizza:  Pesto & Tomato
Creamy homemade pesto sauce topped with fresh glasshouse tomatoes
$10 whole/$3.00 slice

Classic Pepperoni & Salami
Pepperoni and salami on home-made marinara sauce
$11 whole/ $3.50 slice

Vegetarian Pizza
Artichoke hearts and spinach on a garlicky white sauce
$10 whole/$3.00 slice

It is a good idea to call ahead, especially if you want to bring a group or have limited time.

Straub Environmental Learning Center kids visit us!

Today, the Straub Environmental Learning Center camp kids visited us. They helped weed the garden in the heat (Wowza! Thanks!) and then toured the glasshouses and grounds to learn all about how we live sustainably at Pringle Creek Community!

Below are before and after pictures of invasive Japanese Knotweed next to our Cafe. Last week we posted pictures of some of their work, these are another great example of how truly invasive Knotweed is.  Thanks to the DOC work crew for removing the weeds (and for helping maintain their control)!

Both pictures were taken from the same position.  More work remains, but seeing the weeds gone, for now (they'll be back) is wonderful!

Come out and witness the changes for yourself.  We love visitors and sharing the many and varied aspects of Pringle Creek that make us an example of true sustainable community development!
